THE PROJECT

The object of the project is the design and development of a multilayer composite nano-reinforced structure with improved mechanical properties, which will be integrated into existing aircraft structures in order to address issues such as:
the removal of ice that forms on the surface of the aircraft in freezing conditions,
the protection of its structure from lightning,
the resistance to flame propagation in case of fire as well as
moisture absorption.
The selection of the type as well as the dimensional characteristics of the graphene nano-materials that will be incorporated into the various parts of the composite structure will be based on the final desired properties of each layer.

The project aims to introduce new technologies to the market, increasing their technological maturity level (TRL) through their integration and further validation by industry. The development of graphene-based composite materials and their integration into aeronautical systems will contribute to better aerodynamic performance, weight reduction as well as energy savings.

The project will be implemented in Patras, Greece, by the partnership of two recognized Research Institutes, ITE/IEXMI and INVIS, and a company, ADAMANT, with important work in the research, development and sale of products both nationally and internationally . During its implementation, as well as after its completion, a sufficient amount of important results for the domestic industry and the European scientific community are expected, which will be disseminated in the best possible way, both to specialized scientists and to the general public.
